Race Rules
The U.S. Cellular Big KnoxVenture Race Rules
The race committee reserves the right to disqualify any person or team that exhibits unsportsmanlike conduct during the event.
A visible race bib must be carried at all times.
Competitors must complete the entire course and pass through all checkpoints in order. If your team chooses to not participate in a checkpoint, it will be penalized.
If there is a line at a checkpoint, teams must wait until their turn before completing the challenge.
Use of the following electronic items is prohibited during the race: GPS technology, radios, cellular phones, headsets and computers. Pets, baby strollers, roller blades and bikes are also prohibited.
Teammates must stay within 50 feet of each other at all times during the race (unless otherwise specified).
All team members must cross the finish line together. Teams may continue if one team member withdraws, but will not be considered in the final standings.
Each team must consist of two to four members and must fall into one of the following divisions: Women, Men, Corporate or Open.
Team members must dress alike. Teams can wear the official U.S. Cellular Big KnoxVenture Race t-shirt, put together costumes or just wear matching colors.
Teams should bring at least one U.S. Cellular Big KnoxVenture Race t-shirt with them on race day.
To participate in the race, you must be at least 10 years old and one member of your team must be at least 18 years old.
No outside assistance is allowed, but competitors may help each other during the race.
Streets are neither closed to traffic, nor policed for this event. Therefore, participants
must obey all traffic laws along the way. Any team caught not following traffic laws will be disqualified.
Please stay off private property unless specified!
Respect the environment. No littering. The race organizers have the right to penalize any team caught littering.
Race organizers reserve the right to decide whether a person or team may continue for health, safety or other reasons.
Each team is responsible for its own nutritional needs during the race.
Each team should bring at least one fully charged camera with memory on race day. Please do not take your camera on any water-related challenges!
Teams must travel only by foot or, if specified, by public transportation.
Any penalties incurred will be added to the team’s total time at the end of the race.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee is not responsible for any items lost or misplaced during the race.
Each participant of The U.S. Cellular Big KnoxVenture Race consents to the use of his/her name, image, photograph and voice for any and all programming and publicity purposes in media used by Big Brothers Big Sisters without payment or compensation.
All decisions interpreting or applying to these rules are made by Big Brothers Big Sisters. All decisions and interpretations are final. There is no right of appeal or review. These rules are subject to change without notice.
