How physically fit do I need to be to participate in the race?

Anyone in decent physical shape can participate in this race, from hardcore marathoners to couch potatoes. Remember that it’s just as important to have teamwork and a keen eye for puzzles and problem-solving as it is to be fit and speedy.

How old do I need to be to participate?

Participants must be at least 10 years of age. Everyone under the age of 18 must have at least one adult on their team; participants under the age of 18 must also have a parent or guardian’s permission to participate.

Where can I pick up my race packet?

Race packets will be available for pick-up at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office at 4928 Homberg Drive, Suite B3, Knoxville, TN 37919. We'll send you more information on this once you sign up.

What do I need to bring on race day?

A pair of tennis shoes, your U.S. Cellular Big KnoxVenture Race t-shirt, one fully charged camera (with memory) per team, $5 cash per team (just in case) and a positive attitude. You may also want to have with you a change of clothes for after the race.

What kind of clothes should I wear on race day?

Teams must dress alike. Whether that means wearing The U.S. Cellular Big KnoxVenture Race t-shirt, color coordinating or putting together a crazy cool costume, we don’t care as long as you match! There might even be a prize for best team costume, so be creative.

Are participants allowed to use devices such as cell phones, computers, etc. to complete the tasks?

NO! The use of cell phones, computers, etc. to complete the tasks will result in a penalty or possible disqualification. You can get help from other teams and you can help other teams if you see them struggling.

Where should I park on the day of the race?

There are plenty of parking garages and free street parking on weekends downtown. We HIGHLY recommend you park in the Market Square Parking Garage.

Can I get a refund?

No, the race entry fee is non-refundable.

What will happen in the case of inclement weather?

As some famous person once said, “The race must go on,” a.k.a, the race will happen rain or shine. However, if the safety of the participants is compromised, the event will be canceled.

Will there be awards for the winners?

Yes, prizes will be awarded, but we’re keeping them a secret. You will have to show up to find out what cool swag your team can win.

When will results be posted?

Our team, with help from the Knoxville Track Club, will begin tabulating results as soon as the first team crosses the finish line. The top finishers in each division will be recognized at the post-race celebration and we will post the results for all teams on the RESULTS section of this website.

Where can I see photos of the race?

All photos taken at the event will be uploaded to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Facebook page, username: BigBrothers BigSisters (in the Knoxville Network).
