How physically fit do I need to be to participate in the race?

Everyone can participate, from hardcore marathoners to couch potatoes. Remember that it’s just as important to have teamwork and a keen eye for puzzles and problem-solving as it is for you to be fit and speedy.

How old do I need to be to participate?

Participants must be at least 10 years of age. Everyone under the age of 18 must have at least one adult on their team; participants under the age of 18 must also have a parent or guardian’s permission to participate.  Younger children may tag along, but will not count as team members.

What do I need to bring on race day?

A pair of tennis shoes, one fully charged camera (with memory) per team and a positive attitude. Water and snacks are not provided on the race course, so please plan accordingly for your own team needs.

What kind of clothes should I wear on race day?

We ask that teams dress alike. Whether that means wearing the KnoxVenture t-shirt you receive at check-in, color coordinating or putting together some crazy cool costumes…it’s your choice as long as you match! There is a prize for best dressed team, so put your thinking hats on. We’ve had some really great costumes in the past—including superheroes, the Flintstones and a hot dog with condiments.

Are participants allowed to use devices such as cell phones, computers, etc. to complete the race?

No! The use of cell phones, computers, etc. to complete the race is unacceptable. However, you can get help from other teams and you can help other teams if you find them struggling.

Where should I park on the day of the race?

There are plenty of parking garages and free street parking on weekends in the downtown area. We recommend parking in the Market Square Parking Garage as the race begins and ends on the Market Square stage.

Can I get a refund?

No, the race entry fee is non-refundable.

What will happen in the case of inclement weather?

As some famous person once said, “The race must go on,” a.k.a, the race will happen rain or shine. However, the safety of the participants will not be compromised.

Will there be awards for the winners?

Yes, prizes will be awarded, but we’re keeping them a secret. Winners will be recognized in each division category with one overall winning team crowned the KnoxVenture champions. Prizes are also given for best dressed team and best team name, so be creative. All participants will also receive a race bag with discounts, coupons and other swag.

When will results be posted?

We will begin tabulating results as soon as the first team crosses the finish line. The top finishers in each category will be recognized at the post-race celebration. We also plan to post the results on the RESULTS link of this website.

Where can I see photos of the race?

All photos taken at the event will be uploaded to our Facebook page. Search “The Big KnoxVenture Race” and you’ll find us.
